The Maserati MC20 Cielo is formally released

On May 25 finally had the opportunity to view the convertible adaptation of the Maserati MC20 sports car, the MC20 Cielo, at the worldwide premiere that took place in Modena, Italy. As they were developing the MC20 Spyder version, they opted for the term Cielo in the name. Cielo means Sky and it’s an amazing term for this Maserati Corse 2020 with its retractable roof. The best part is that both the closed Coupe analog and the MC20 Cielo will be assembled in the memorable plant Viale Ciro Menotti.

The roof on the Maserati MC20 is mechanically opened, and it is disguised under the rear buttress that is hinged at the back of the car and expands to put the roof down. The distinctive feature of the buttress area is that it grips a big trident better known as the Maserati logo. This is a brilliant integration that is well noted, but there are other details like the roof itself. On the MC20 Cielo the roof is composed of glass, but not a regular type of glass, this is a state-of-the-art electrochromic (intelligent glass) window. This window features an instantaneous effect that changes the glass from transparent to opaque with the press of one button on the main screen. This is due to the Polymer-Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) technology used.

So it doesn’t matter if the weather doesn’t allow you to drive with the roof down, by making the area over your head translucent, you will still feel like you are souring in the skies. When you choose to open the top totally to feel the open air, it will take a mere 12 seconds to open. Closing also takes 12 seconds and with the top in its place, you’ll experience extraordinary thermal insulation. Another amazing feature that you may not notice from afar is that the Maserati MC20 Cielo features butterfly doors. This makes it easier to get in and out of the vehicle, but there’s also another benefit as well. With the doors up you have a full view to appreciate the carbon fiber cabin effortlessly, and you have a full view of your frontal tires and at the same time. You will notice that the wheels are not inside a well.

The press mentions that the vehicle presented here is complete with a really exceptional shade of Aquamarine. It’s part of the Maserati Fuoriserie custom-tailored program, and this convertible features a three-metallic coating with a white interior and chromed coated wheels.

At first glance you’ll notice a pastel gray base that accentuates the feeling of speed, invoking of the MC20’s sports DNA, but after that, you’ll notice the iridescent aquamarine mica that accentuates the tone and makes it phenomenal, very deserving of a sports car like this.

The earlier units of the Maserati MC20 will be dispatched to customers as we speak, the first customers will get their MC20 Cielo prior to the Summer of 2023. This way they can appreciate top-down driving right away. No doubt she looks pretty nice, and let’s not forget, the Cielo arrives with the identical 621 BHP and 538lb-ft of torque as the Coupe. The 3.0-Liter, twin-turbo, V6 Nettuno motor delivers immense power smoothly as a result of an eight-speed twin-clutch auto gearbox. With a general weight of 1565kg for the Cielo, the output of the Coupe of 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds, 0-124mph in 8.8 seconds, and a maximal speed of 203mph isn’t affected considerably by the extra 65 kg. The performance and the maximum speed for the MC20 Cielo will still be splendid for sure.
